Hello THEKA friends,

a summer holiday greeting here from Denmark! I wanted to share with you a blog from Librarians in Sweden who joined Second Life. I know that you may not understand Swedish language, but there are some neat YouTube videos and other inspiration . One interesting detail - they started this blog in a networking service called Ning which I've seen used pretty often just recently by communities. It appears like each member can have a personal blog and there would be ashare blog roll developed automatically.

A Isabel Coutinho no Público de 30.06.07 deu-nos a conhecer uma 'ferramenta' muito interessante: o LibraryThing. Transcrevo: " O LibraryThing ajuda-nos a criar um catálogo dos nossos livros com a mesma qualidade com que os bibliotecários fazem catálogos nas bibliotecas, e liga pessoas a partir dos livros que partilham nos seus catálogos." Abby Blachly é a bibliotecária que foi contratada pelo bibliófilo, programador de computadores, Tim Spalding.

Há uma biblioteca portuguesa indexada: a Biblioteca Francisco Pereira de Moura do Instituto Superior de Economia e Gestão da Universidade Técnica de Lisboa.

Do You know "e-Content plus"?

Luisa Marquardt (consultant CASPUR, teacher at University "Roma TRE") sent us (ENSIL members) an e-mail to report she had taken part in a "e-Content plus" meeting at the NationalResearch Council (Rome).It was a pre-screening day, useful forpotential applicants and sent to ENSIL members this link:

As she writes: Eligibilty criteria were shown. Interoperability, sustainability beyond the Project duration itself, advantages for large public (e.g., innovative and accessible ICT based services), multilingual services and digital libraries implementation, are some of the issues discussed.

It was underlined that it's more important to share already existing educational or scholarly contents than to build new ones. The content should come from more than one European Country (even non EU member), not from other continents (or these contents should be integrated in EU ones).

I think it's worthy reading, specially by the school librarians!

Today I attended an online conference that was happening at the british Council in Khartoum, Sudan! Our convener and discussion leader was my virtual colleague and friend, webhead facilitator Hala Fawzi. Hala is a Sudanese teacher of English, now studying her Ph.D about teacher online professional development.

I think that her slides and other material could serve as an inspiration also for school librarians in Portugal (and all over the world).

O Etiénne Wenger abriu-me a 'janela' e eu pus-me a espreitar...Vieram a Sus, a Shirley e o João e trouxeram a Rose, a bibliotecária do ano 2012. E nós pusémo-nos todos a discutir como é que vai ser a biblioteca da Rose com todas as potencialidades da web 2:0. E o quadro encheu-se de palavras: laptops, del.icio.us, tags, flirck, mobible phones, blogger, sms, youtube, wikkis, wikkipedia, rss...
